Larry Nichols, M.D., is professor of pathology and interim chair of the department of pathology of the Mercer University School of Medicine. Before that, he was professor of pathology and vice chair for education at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Prior to that, he was associate professor of pathology and chief of the multi-hospital autopsy service for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Before that, he was assistant professor of pathology at the University of Southern California and did autopsies of AIDS patients for all of Los Angeles County. He has also done clinical antibiotic research and worked for the British National Health Service. He earned his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin and did residency training in internal medicine and pathology at the Harvard Medical School New England Deaconess Hospital. Over the years, his research interests have shifted from antibiotics to AIDS to cardiac and pulmonary pathology and, most recently, medical education. Since coming to the Mercer University School of Medicine, Dr. Nichols has been publishing case reports based on the thousands of hospital patient autopsies that he has done, often focused on the lessons for patient safety from those cases. He serves as a scientific editor of the Brazilian journal Autopsy and Case Reports published by the medical school of the University of Sao Paolo and as one of the editors of the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine published by the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Nichols has joined the group of infectious disease physicians at the Navicent Medical Center and he takes a turn every fourth week presenting cases at their infectious diseases case conference. He is working with the chair of the department of surgery at the Navicent Medical Center in a laboratory bench research study of fibrosis from abdominal surgery. Dr. Nichols is collaborating with individuals at the medical school of the Free University of Brussels in Belgium, which hosts his website of virtual slides and associated patient histories, freely accessible for medical education anywhere in the world.

Dr. Altaf Taher is currently the Divisional Chief of Pathology at Eastern Health in St. John’s, Canada. He is also employed by the Faculty of Medicine at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He serves as the Program Director of the Residency Training Program in Anatomical Pathology. Altaf received his medical degree from JNMC College in Belgaum, India, and went on to do his specialization in Pathology from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India in 1990. After practicing pathology for more than a decade he immigrated to Canada where he was recertified by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in 2008. He subsequently was a fellow in the Gastrointestinal Pathology division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston from 2009 to 2010. He also received certification from the American Board of Pathology in 2010. He joined Memorial University as an Assistant Professor in 2009. He became the Residency Program Director in 2014. He has proven skills as a leader and became the Divisional Chief of Pathology in 2016. His interests are mainly in education and he teaches both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. His specialization in Gastrointestinal Pathology has made him one of the few pathologists with a special interest in pancreato-biliary pathology in the entire province of Newfoundland.

Dr. Ahmed G. Hegazi is working as a professor of Microbiology & Immunology at National Research Center, Dept. Zoonotic Diseases from 2004. He also has work experience as a prestigious chair in the Department of Parasitology and Animal Diseases, National Research Center. He received many awards like the Senior Scientist Prize of National Research Center(1996), National Scientific Prize In Biological Sciences(1990), The Second Best Research Paper award From the International Congress of propolis, Bones Aires, Argentina(2000), and many more. He Conducted training courses on Clinical Microbiology at, National Research Center in 1979. He has 230 articles in national and international scientific journals along with six patents.

Hegazi's research work has been focused lately on bee products and their therapeutic effects. Hegazi organized and contributed to national and international research projects since 1977 and up till now; he has been the principal investigator on multiple research projects within the National Research Center.

He completed his M.B.B.S from MLN Medical College, Allahabad, with a certificate of Honours in 7 Subjects. Merit Rank in the Medical College & University of Allahabad and completed his M.D (Pathology) in the first attempt from MLN Medical College– SRN and allied Hospitals, University of Allahabad, Allahabad, India in March 1997. He got the Fellowship of the Indian College of Pathologists (FICPath) and Member International Academy of Cytologists (MIAC). He is currently a Professor in the Department of Pathology, Rohilkhand Medical College & Hospital, Bareilly. He has published papers and 41 research articles and performing leadership activities.
